Thomas D. Bratschun


Tom is one of the founding partners of Adsero.  He built the firm and his practice with a reputation for integrity and creativity in addressing all manner of intellectual property issues.  His roots in industry and at a number of law firms before Adsero give him a variety of perspectives to help counsel and communicate with clients, be they individuals or businesses of all sizes.  Tom has proven a quick study in a host of technical fields and his ability to analyze and explain complex technical and legal issues inspires trust and confidence.  

Tom’s patent prosecution practice spans technology from civil and environmental engineering to photonics to computer software to medical devices, emphasizing U.S. and foreign portfolio development, licensing and counseling.

Tom counsels clients in the selection, clearance and registration of hundreds of trademarks throughout the world and manages portfolios ranging from a few to hundreds of registrations.  Representative industries include pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, medical devices, construction materials, sporting goods and consumer products.

Tom represents clients in administrative proceedings in the United States Patent and Trademark Office and in connection with patent and trademark disputes.  He also works with trial counsel providing substantive legal support in patent, trademark, and licensing disputes.  Tom also has served as an expert witness on patent procedure.
